The AK 4.5 – An efficient and comfortable mid-sized blade
Dale Stoops, founder of The Knife Connection designed the AK 4.5 in 2014, and it has now moved from prototyping to production under the ARCHITECT® KNIVES brand.
Are you looking for the best low maintenance blade steel? Never worry about rust again with this premium stainless steel blade, proudly made in the USA by White River Knife & Tool. The CPM MagnaCut Stainless Steel blade features an expert “full” heat treat. The blade machining and finishing are top notch and what you would expect to see on knives costing much more. This blade is low-drag due to being uncoated, which makes slicing and food preparation chores a breeze, plus, you’ll never have to worry about a blade coating wearing off.
The blade and handle have an unconditional lifetime warranty.
The AK 4.5 sits between the AK 3.5 and AK 5.5 for those who may still want a concealed carry knife or EDC belt knife, but need a little more than the AK 3.5 offers. As its name indicates, the blade length is 4.5″ and the 20 degree ground cutting edge is 4.4″ in length. Featuring 5/32″ thick steel, the AK 4.5 is able to withstand a great deal of hard use with ease. The high saber grind allows for excellent slicing capability while providing a bit more wedge action for splitting small chunks of wood and performing a variety of other bushcraft tasks.
Fresh from the drawing board, the AK 4.5 shares a new handle design with the AK 3.5, and offers a liberal length to accommodate all hand sizes. It fills the hand elegantly with its smooth ergonomic contours. This knife is well suited for dressing small to medium sized game. The handle grip is robust enough to maintain a secure grip even when wet and slippery. The blade’s thumb jimping provides a traction area when more downward force is needed and gives better blade control. The AK 4.5 features a flat (non-serrated) hammer pommel for use in a multitude of blunt force scenarios, and a uniquely designed “hidden” lanyard hole designed to accommodate standard 5/32″ / 4.0 mm paracord. The result is a clean looking and highly functional lanyard system.
We plan to offer an optional sharpened 90 degree spine on a per-order basis soon.
All AK blade engravings have been designed to communicate a generous amount of information in an attractive and clean way. This blade matched with one (or more colors) of our Architect® handle kits provide you with a premium knife without a premium price, giving you real value.
A matching handle kit must be purchased with a blade only product unless you have previously purchased a handle.

This is my third Architect knife. The quality is outstanding as well as the fit and finish. I am also impressed with the accessories including the Kydex knife sheath, the leather belt loop, and the handle slab fit and finish. Everything is top notch! There are more Architect knives in my future. Also love the variety of knife steels and accessories available to customize your knife.

I bought the AK6.5, 4.5, and 3.5 in Magnacut, and the AK6.5 in 3V, and I couldn’t be happier. They’re all magnificent blades.

Thank you very much for the knife you sent me! It was my dream since last year when I first saw the video about it! I liked almost everything, blade and the handle of the knife, absolutely everything! I also want you to work on sharpening the knife, it does not work very well with wood carving and feather sticks , either it slips on wood! I watched a lot of videos about knives such as AK-5.5 and AK 4.5 and everyone who cut wood had the same problem – the knife slipped on the wood or cut off a large piece of wood! I also wanted to ask you about your signature on the knife blade! All the knives in the video have it, but mine doesn’t??? Why is that??
Please make a AK 4.5 in Magnutcut with a scandi grind and a 90 degree spine for ferro rod striking.
