I like everything about architect knives. They have great blade shapes, steels, handles, heat treatment, sheaths and belt attachments. Plus, the blade thickness on the 6.5 is just perfect for me

So I am a Volunteer for my counties S&R. During a field day training for the new recruits, they have to build a fire/shelter etc (no match/lighter etc) and use a knife to Baton wood. One guy was using his 4″ knife and i wouldn’t say having problems, but wasn’t easy. He asked if there was something he was doing wrong, so I said yes… use a bigger knife and handed him my AK6.5 in Magnacut. After he stared at and handled it, he easily when through the wood he had with ease and did not want to hand it back. 2 other S&R trainers wanted to play with my knife as well.
I used it a few times helping others, and just wanted to show off. Get home and wipe the blade down.. not a scratch, or ding, or anything. Except for some pitch it still looked brand new.
I have the 3.5 and 6.5 in Magnacut, and a 6.5 in 3V, the 3v has a tiny nick in the blade from use though. (3V has the orange lanyard in the pic)
I use the 3.5 more than anything it’s just a great all around size, may have to buy a 2nd one!

Turnaround time is QUICK, like 1 week. I was lucky to get a Magnacut order in for the Architect Knives Field Buddy AK 6.5 before it sold out in 10 minutes.
Check out the video I posted on YouTube that goes through the measurements, weights, shipping time, how easy the whole process was, and more!

I have only had the knife for two weeks, so there are still many opportunities to put this knife through its paces. The fit and finish is superb. The Magnacut is everything you would expect. The knife feels great in the hand and was very sharp out of the box. This is a knife that will be passed down in my family . I’m looking forward to my next Architect knife. I’m excited but patiently waiting for the AK 8 in Magnacut. Thanks to the folks at Architect Knives!

    Love the knife

I was surprised I had to assemble the handle. So, I wasn’t too happy about that.
Also, the packaging was disappointing because I don’t think it protects the knife adequately. It is an expensive knife. Luckily, the knife was not damaged duirng shipping. But, better packaging is a must for this company.

Regarding the knife, nothing to complain. Excellent craftsmanship and good value for the money

I have a AK-5 with a 3v blade. I needed a carbon blade for fire starting and Bushcraft tasks requiring toughness. The AK-6 was for a friend who is an avid hunter who cleans and processes his own game. He wanted a larger blade with backbone, more edge retention and slicing ability, a handle that had grip without getting clogged with blood, and as he makes use of a knife in very adverse conditions, more corrosion resistance. He went with the Magnacut blade with G-10 handles, a kydex sheath, all in camouflage colors. After using it for the first time, all his boxes were checked off and said, “My hands will never touch another knife. We are both thankful to Ethan for what he has made possible.

Wish I either knew about these guys sooner or they were around sooner, I ordered a knife from another company about 2 years ago, it was never delivered. I ordered from Architect and less than a week later I received a beautiful AK 6.5 in Magnacut! This is everything I wanted 2 years ago and more! The shape is awesome, the thickness is perfect and it’s all in Magnacut and delivered! Not only all of that but I called and asked for a recommendation to find handles in a jade G10 (I had looked and wasn’t finding them) and the gentleman said he would see about making them! How cool is that! Not that I would expect them to make every possible combination, but to take a request seriously, these guys are going to get more of my money for sure!

The Magnacut blade was shipped promptly. I could not be happier with the finish, and factory edge. The AK 6.5 definitely is a great knife.

I put it to work right away processing some 2″-3″ thick branches for a small bonfire. De-limbing is gravy work for this knife. Chopping, it definitely hits about its weight class the way the blade is balanced. I have DPx Gear Heft 12 that I love, but no were near as versital as the AK 6.5 obviously. The Heft 12 will definitely not be seeing as much action now with the AK 6.5 around.

After my inital test of the AK 6.5, I did some batoning with it. And man it took it like a champ! I can see the Magnacut will definitely take a beating.

Making tent stakes, feather sticks, traps, etc… all day every day. This is definatly my new go to survival knife. Probably won’t be the best for processing game, but if it were the only knife I had I know I could get it all (small -large game) done. It will be interesting to see how the factory edge geometry holds up.

My only compliant would be the sheath. But really, not even an issue. For now the AK 6.5 is one of my truck knives. The sheath does what it is designed to do… protect and carry. Were I would get critical would be a better burnishing job of the edges… just slight corners left that were not rounded over. Also there is just the slightest rattling… jogging, jumping, climbing.

Such a bargain though for a semi custom knife collaboration. And definitely raised the bar for the competition to elevate to. Well done indeed!

Pictured with lionSteel m5 in Slepner steel, and green canvas micarta. And BMKT Explorer in Magnacut, and brass.
