Frequently Asked Questions
What does a MOLLE pouch do?
The acronym “MOLLE” stands for “Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment.” Developed for military use, a MOLLE pouch is made of ultra-strong nylon or canvas and is ideal for carrying supplies of all kinds. You’ll find MOLLE pouches that bolt to your knife sheath as an attachment to have all the bits and pieces you need in the bush, at work, and at home on the DIY trail!
What are the advantages of belt loop attachments versus danglers?
Many knife users like a belt loop attachment because it’s easy and comfortable. But some custom cutlery enthusiasts prefer danglers. There are distinct advantages to each carry style. We’d say that the dangler is more relaxed, but belt loop carry is less conspicuous. Danglers are great for easy drawing/re-sheathing of your knife. But for all-day EDC, many prefer the “high-ride” belt loop attachment as the comfort option, with the long loop and dangler as the “quick draw” option for other occasions. Each style wears well for a distinct purpose.
Are attachments really that important?
A smaller knife can probably do without a bunch of attachments. But if you’re carrying a fixed blade, larger-sized knife, then you’ll want the bells and whistles implied by such a serious bush tool. A firestarter in a loop and an LED mini flashlight attached to the back of the sheath are a good start. Having such first-tier survival items on your knife sheath while you’re out there is a best practice.
